Commission FAQ
Design
We love references, inspiration photos and boards, period specific style references or your own rough designs or sketches.
Using what you provide we will create and provide an outline drawing + desired materials for approval.
Once materials have been purchased and forging started, no major changes can be made to the design.
Small changes (ie handle material, handle pins, etc) can be made for a cost as long as the change is to a part that has not yet been started/completed.
Wills
We're happy to make a wide range of blades, including but not limited to:
- Custom Chef Knives
- Steak Knives
- Swords and Daggers
- Friction Folders
- Takedown Construction Blades
If you don't see what you want on the list (and it doesn't fall into our will nots), please reach out to us with your ideas as there's too many to list here!
Will Nots
There are some pieces we are not able, or willing, to make at this time, including:
- Auto (Spring Loaded) Knives of any kind
- Mono Steel Blades
- Nazi Memorabilia Recreations
This list may be updated, and we maintain the right to refuse projects not on this list if we feel they are outside of our scope or have malicious intentions behind them.
Timelines
Overall timelines will vary depending on the scope of your project.
Once you reach out to us you can except the following steps:
- Initial discussion of project parameters and budget
- Once references and overall idea is provided we'll work on a design and material outline, along with cost and rough timeline
- After the design is approved we'll begin work on your project based on the timeline provided
- We'll provide updates along the way as we create your piece
- Once the piece is finished we'll reach out to arrange shipping, pick up or delivery
Payment
Cost
Due to the varying nature of projects like these, we cannot list any set costs. We are happy to chat about your idea and provide a rough estimate for you via email before you decide if you'd like to move forward.
Payment Timelines
After you've approved your project's final design and materials we'll require a 30% deposit before we begin making your blade.
This covers the cost of materials and initial design and forging time.
Once the blade is complete, and we've determined how you'll receive it, you'll be required to pay the final 70% + any shipping costs.
When final payment is received your blade will be on the way to you!
Refunds
We understand that life happens.
Commissions refunds can be requested but materials purchased and time spent will be deducted from the refund.
Once the blade is complete and the remaining 70% has been paid the sale is final and there are no refunds offered.
